Mechanical cooling fan
Was thinking of getting a new mechanical fan for my new 455 build. I looked on summit and they have listed for Oldsmobile was 16.000",19.312" and 19.250".
Will these fit? Or are they to big? Has anyone used any of them?
Any info apreciated!
Thanks!

i did a search on the summit site for 1968 olds 442 with a 455 engine and it gave me the choices above. Im just wondering if anyone else with a 1968 442 with a 400/455 engine used any of these and if they ran into any clearance issues?

Be sure and measure that opening to THREE decimal digits, too!
Use a CMM if possible... ck for out of round and off center and tilted.

I think a tape measure figure good to +/- 0.1" should get you the fan size you need.
I remember having to hack away the bottom of my rare '68 only fan shroud to fit the fan.. Wrong motor mounts probably, but no internet back then to get awesome helpful truthful info.

Do they give a pitch measurement?
Perhaps finding a good used fan from a similar application would be better. Sandblast it and paint it and it will look just like new. You will then know it will be the right measurements to move enough air. Also if you are running a clutch, proper air resistance will be needed for the clutch to engage and disengage correctly.
