Just got block align hones here are my bearing clearances
Fresh align hone. I will put the motor together this weekend and I'll keep everyone posted. It'll probably be another month at the most before I fire it up and break it in. Hope my clearances will keep me safe as I'm still learning. I can't afford anymore machine work this year so hopefully I'll be safe with what I have. Olds 461. Street performance motor. Dont plan on reving past 5500 RPM. Also the machinist removed the protective coating from the clevite bearings because before i had the the block align honed, when i spun the crank with oil it left scuff marks on some of the bearings.

Are those numbers calculated , or was the block bolted up then measured ?
If calculated those numbers will gain about .0003 when bolted up. If it truly is .0025 , its a bit tight , also when measuring a block with mains bolted clearance number will vary by a few tenths .

He torqued the caps with the bearings then measured with a dial bore gauge the mic'd it. Then he mic'd the crankshaft journals to get the clearance. Then for the rods he installed the bearings and tightened the caps and did the same thing as above.

just a thought but when you polish off the coating I would use crocus cloth and fine oil it works great, Its old school but its how we use to polish crankshafts in the old days but on the bearings go real easy and get a uniform color. Crocus is a red cloth and you cant even feel any grit, it was used by jewelers to polish with. Use to find it at any hardware store but you can only get it on line and its not expensive. I havent found anything to polish bearings or a crank with that is better at least by hand.

That is how I measured mine. My clearances are real close to yours, maybe .0001 looser. Been running it hard for two years without problems.
