Intake and carburator question

Hi there,

I'm asking for my husband who just bought a '72 Oldsmobile Cutlass 442 convertible with a 455 engine.

He would love to know what you guys (and gals) consider the best match in torquer intakes and 4-barrel carburators (it has a 4-speed automatic transmission). He's really interested in what people would consider the most reliable carburator. Brand and model suggestions are very welcome

Thanks so much for any help you can give us!

More info about the engine would be needed. There are many hear smarter and more experiance than I.
So take it for what its worth
Qjet done right work for a wide range of needs.
Torker is more high horsepower, seems many run the Performer manifold.

This Big Block area can be pretty slow so be patient.
Good luck with the car !

As noted, how the car will be used and what other work has been done to it will dictate the best carb/intake combo. Assuming the car is relatively stock and is mainly a cruiser (it's a convertible, after all), I would recommend a dual plane intake like a Performer instead of a single plane intake like a Torker. The Torker is designed for performance at higher RPMs. The Performer is closer to the factory intake design and will be a better choice for a nearly stock street car. I also find the Qjet hard to beat. It's probably the most flexible, drivable carb there is.
