How rare is this ? 455 alloy intake manifold
Hi All
I am picking up a 455 motor that is in pieces ... one of which is an alloy intake manifold that is a factory item.
ALL Olds bits here are rare, but are these manifolds common ?
thanks

what intake manifold number is it??
you could look it up at www.442.com in the faq section
It would be pretty funny if it was from a 307.

The only aluminum factory big block intakes are the 70-72 W-30 intakes. They will say either "OLDS W455" or "OLDSMOBILE W455", depending on the date of manufacture. This is located right on the forward runner. If real, these intakes sell for $500 - $1000. Note, however, that repros are now available and not worth as much.

not 307 ... it's over 20 years old
Joe,
The guy who owns it says he's had it for 20 years, so I doubt it is a repro.
When I know more I will let you all know.

It has Olds W455 on it !
Joe,
I picked up the motor and all the stuff with it tonight and the manifold had "Olds W455" on it ... and it's not in bad nick either.
J-chicago,
I'll list the number if it has one in the morning... too dark here now.
Pics will be put onto my Olds website over the next couple of days.

Oldsmaniac - I didn't get your reply until I got hoem from dropping everything off so I did not get a chance to check for letters on the heads, but one thing I do know ... there's no room for bigger valves !
*update ... I called the reco guys and they say they have "G" on them ... ? good thing ?
They are practically on top of each other.

Doh ! ... W-30 heads would've been nice then :)
Oldsmaniac,
Ah ! ... they looked like they had hardened seats ... excellent !
Looks like this pick up could save me just as much as it cost ... even more .
could it have been fate ?
Just discussing it here has me itching to cruise
cheers from Down Under
