American Racing Headers are stainless steel and have a top reputation for quality and fit.

All headers clear the starter for the most part as an observation ( I have only had crappy offshore headers but I have had no issues) but most headers sit tight on the stock size starter . But with headers I highly recommend 2 things. a quick disconnect for the starter and a mini starter. You will not be able to put in a stock stater with headers in place you will have to hang the header , install the starter then bolt the headers up. Even with my mini starter its the same thing but its lighter. Just FWIW.

My next set will be the Thornton headers. I love the design.

Installed Flowtech's I believe in a friends 72 455 vert, drivers side was hitting the frame had to bash a couple of tubes in, would NOT recommend, I like Hooker headers, and yes they will fit a convertible.

I like Hookers, as do Robert Kraft, Hugh Grant, Danny Bonaducci......

Just ordered a set of these for my 72 442! They’re supposed to arrive this week from Thornton’s! Trying to sell off my NIB Ebay special stainless in the classifieds right now if any one is interested!

I used Hookers on my '68 4-4-2. It is a 4 speed car, and even after installing new engine mounts I had to massage the under side of the cylinder 7 tube so that it would not rub on the bell crank. Other than that, no fitment issues, keeping the starter info above in mind.

Thornton headers are like glorified manifolds. None of the true advantages of headers are really incorporated to the design. They do however look better than manifolds.
