My car when you turn the key it would keep cranking and not turn on sometimes it would turn on more Likely when warm so to get it on we have to prime the carburetor to get the car on but cant do so by itself my tata notice on the fuel filter above the fuel pump doesn't have as much gas when it used to been about a week we gotten a new fuel pump and went under tata and me checked the fuel lines found a tiny leak fix it still doing same thing it does idle real low and sometimes real low till it just turns off today we increased the idle by turning the idle screw in carburetor I already bought a new fuel sending unit we are going to check it still to be safe the main problem is looking at the fuel filter at the top of fuel pump it's not giving as much gas as its used to anyone who can give advice I would appreciate it alot

 

Irrelevant. The amount of fuel in an aftermarket clear fuel filter doesn't tell you if your car has a fuel delivery problem.

First, you need to verify that the fuel in the carburetor is evaporating when the car sits. To do this:

• Remove air cleaner with the engine COLD in the morning
• Open the choke plate at the top of the carburetor
• Activate the throttle 1 time to see if the accelerator pump squirts fuel into the venturi

If you don't see the accelerator pump shot you know the fuel is evaporating or leaking out overnight.

That is very common. When mine sits for a few days or more, I have to crank for 15-20 seconds before it will start.
Also, are you pumping the gas pedal before attempting to start the engine? This must be done on a carbureted engine in order to get fuel for starting. Modern cars with fuel injected engines don't need this, but older carbureted engines do. As noted above, I crank for 15-20 seconds while pumping the gas pedal several times to get it to start.

Old cars are different from new. When they are not driven for several days, which is now normal for old cars, the gasoline in the carburetor can and does evaporate. So there is no fuel in the carb to fire the engine. You must crank the engine with the key switch to pump fuel (with engine drive mechanical fuel pump) to replace the fuel which has evaporated before then engine will start.

The important parts here are a good fuel pump and strong battery with clean electrical cables.
