Fuel pump question

Maybe a dumb question but I ask anyhow, what is in and what is out on this pump? My guess is; in on the left and out on the right.

I'd agree, due to the sediment bowl on the left.

Are there no arrows on the pump casting that shows the direction of flow?

The motor compartment is really nice and clean and looks great.

Fuel bowl is the inlet and the other is the outlet to the carb

The filter is always on the outlet or discharge side of the pump. So- the elbow to right needs to come off or rotate to accept the fuel pump suction line, and the port on top of the filter bowl goes to the carb. The plugged port on the filter bowl is for a return line on airconditioned cars.

Wouldn't hurt to find a filter to go in that filter bowl. Originals were sintered porous bronze. A pleated paper one will work fine too. Pretty sure WIX still lists one.
