Finally dropped her in

Yesterday me and my uncle finally got my newly rebuilt motor dropped in..It went very well...It dropped right over the mounts and the bolts went right in...

You should install a new vacuum modulator while you're at it. They're cheap and most of the new ones are adjustable.

Boy that looks nice. Wish I could paint the engine in my '73 Custom Cruiser. I just don't want to take it out just for that purpose.

Anyone ever paint an engine while it was IN the car? How did it go? Sounds like a nightmare.

Good luck with it. Personally I like putting the engine and transmission in at the same time.

Anyway its always good to see progress.

Yes, you have to take most everything off the engine. You have to clean all the grease off the engine and scrap off any old loose paint.

The limit garage space and 1 ton jack kept me from putting both in at the same time...The engine hoist was actually 3 foot short from dropping in over the center of the engine so i put a 3 foot extension on it and 4 - 50 pound bags of sand on the back of the hoist to keep it from tipping..
