Finally brought her home
For the last week I have been working in Reno, I cover vacations for a couple of body shops I used to work for. My husband met me Friday night with the car trailer. On Saturday, we went to my storage unit and pulled out my 69 Hurst Olds. We loaded it up so John could bring her to Williams, Ca.
Apparently she didn't want to go with out me or she thought she had been sold. John left the storage unit and made it about 20 miles away. He stopped at Gold Ranch Casino and Gas station to top off the tank. He noticed that the electric winch cable was loose and wrapped around the bracket and not the spool. He loosened it and tried to rewrap it and the winch would only go in one direction. Loose. I ended up taking John back into Reno so he could get some more tie-downs. We got it chained and strapped and he left for home.
He made it 65 more miles and the right rear trailer tire lost its tread. He was able to find a wide spot on the 2 lane highway to pull over. He had to completely unload all of my extra parts out of the truck to get to the spare tire and jack. He changed the tire and reloaded the truck to head for home. Of course the minute he pulled over it started pouring rain. He said that after the tire was changed and he got moving the rain let up and the sun came out.
He seems to think she doesn't like him . I think she was just messing with him.
Here are the pictures of her loaded up for the trip.

Wow! Cool car! I'm glad you were able to get it home even with the minor problems along the way! Looking at the dust, how long has it been in storage? Did you paint it before putting it in storage? Tell us the story of how long you've had your car. John

Nice little story, could have been alot worse of course, could have lost the tire all together... don't want to think about that...
Looks like all of the trim has been removed from the car, was it stored after it was repainted?

In May of 1970, my dad was looking at a car to by my mom. I saw this car and talked him into it. Actually what I said was "Look at how much faster mom can get us to school in this car rather than the Toronado". I was 5 and dad couldn't argue, so he bought it.
When I turned 16 I started driving her. My parents finally gave her to me when I was 18. She was my daily driver until I was in an accident in 1993 (I think). I couldn't find a body shop that would repair her, so I went to the local Community College. I did all of the body work and paint on her. I even color mapped the paint on the deck lid that was under the rear spoiler to get a true color. I stripped her down to bare metal and built her back again. I started painting her on May 25, 1995, what would have been my mom's 65th birthday. Unfortunately she passed away in 1985.
While I was buffing her for the last time, I burned thru the clear in one spot. Unfortunately our school was closed due to budget cuts and I was unable to reshoot her. In 1996 my father suddenly passed away and I put her in storage where she has sat patiently waiting for me to start working on her again.
I know, I know, I should have worked on her while working at a body shop, but I never had time. Sorta like the mechanic who's car barely runs.
My icon is a picture of me driving her through Washoe Valley, Nevada in the late 80's. I will try to upload progress as I can.

What number is your car? I think # 23 per the protecto plate, but will have to look at it again.
What options? A/C and 8 track The true executive hot rod
What are your plans? To love her and cherish her as long as I live. I have an agreement with my husband that she can be sold at my estate sale.
