Factory throttle cable and bracket question 🤔

1972 U code Supreme with a 770 Holley Street Avenger and Edelbrock Performer intake. Will a factory throttle cable and bracket work?

Nope. The Holley bolt pattern is wider than the Qjet. The stock bracket won't bolt up. I've cut and welded the stock bracket to widen it in the past.

I've made the cable work after modifying the bracket.

There is no adjustment, other than modifying the bracket to move the fixed part of the cable closer to or further from the carb. That's why there are aftermarket brackets that have this adjustment capability.
Keep in mind that I did this in the early 1980s, so I can't say I remember everything about it. That Holley is why I use Qjets today. Holley is a W.O.T. carb. Great at the track, but lacking in part-throttle driveability. There's always a flat spot. You can easily tune the RPM where the flat spot occurs, you just can't ever get rid of it.

Qjets are arguably the most advanced 4bbl ever made. Triple boosters in the primaries for good atomization, Adjustable Part Throttle on the later carbs, and a lot of adjustability. The fact that one basic carb design was able to be used on engines from 231 to 500 cu in says something about the design and flexibility. This complexity is why people without the skill or patience to adjust them properly crap on them. To each his own.

The only difference is 2bbl vs 4bbl.
