Exhaust manifold removal

Working on a 70 442 convert w AC. I have all exhaust manifold bolts out and I have the driver side manifold out of the car (had to drop the starter). But how does the pass side come out? Drop out the rear bottom? Does the oil filter mount have to come off? Or does it slide out the front of the car?

I had to snake it out thru the front. Seems like I took the motor mounts loose and off engine. Then set engine down to where it was almost touching the oil pan to crossmember. (or up- can't remember). Then pulled loose manifold forward thru as I held lower radiator hose so it would go past. Then out going down by the radiator. The time before when I had the exhaust manifolds off the a/c compressor wasn't there and it was easy. This last time I did it a/c was fixed and I was surprised how much harder it was to do with compressor in place! I ran my exhaust manifolds on a big belt sander this last time cuz of manifold to head leaks- sounded like crap. If that is why you are removing them, I recommend doing that.

Remove the oil filter adapter. That should give you enough room to take it out the bottom.

As I began taking off the pass side bolts I noticed the back side of the manifold is touching the bolt head on the oil filter adapter. Seems like there should be clearance there?

I took off the oil filter adapter and the manifold came out the rear pretty good. No way it was getting by the oil adapter. But I am still curious about the manifold touching the head on that upper adapter bolt. I ground down half the bolt head thickness and now have maybe .030" clearance. Maybe the factory uses a special thin bolt at that location?
