Engine ID

This is a poor picture and I can't tell if it is a 371 or a 394 or ? It was built as a performance engine some 10 years or so ago and has been in storage ever since. Trying to guess at the year as well 3-hour drive from here to go look at

I am also attaching a picture of the performance transmission that goes with it and has never been installed.

Trying to figure out what to offer. or if there is any interest there.

Those are interesting pics Pat. It looks like the transmission has a detachable tailshaft and detachable bellhousing. Unfortunately, I don't know what kind of transmission it is.

I notice that the valve covers on the engine don't have a circle in the center of them like the valve covers on my 64 394 had. In addition, it's missing the oil fill tube up front or else it is just cut off by the edge of the picture. Plus, it looks like an aftermarket oil pan. Sorry, I don't know what kind of engine it is either.

This actually comes from my next door Neighbor. The motor was abandoned in a storage shed next tor where he stores some of his car collection and he has been offered these by owner of the storage facility and contacted me because he knows I am a Olds guy. The transmission looks to be late 50' or early 60's. I might just have to take the long drive to go look at it.

Joe, Don't know if this is on the HAMB or not will have to go look. Is it a recent post?
