Endangered Species: hyd roller lifters ?
Geez, seems impossible to find a new set of morel hyd roller lifters under any brand. I ordered set in April and date just keeps getting pushed back. Just notified it’s now gonna be in september but i wont be surprised if that gets pushed again.

Its not just lifters. A lot of things are very hard to find right now. And like the others have said I personally think the Morels are a little over rated. And they are about the most arrogant people on earth to deal with

They (Morel) actually make 3 different versions of BBC HYD roller lifters. I've had good luck compared to other builds getting the 455 Olds to peak @ a higher RPM and carry power further past peak HP, Morel lifters were part of my design....

And any lifter will die if you don’t have the flow to support the desired power. It’s a total package as you know.
So you have multiple sets of Olds Hyd rollers in stock? If so have at it guys.

Anyone have any experience with Ruben roller hydraulic lifters? I have a knocking when my 1969 400 gets up to operating temperature but only above around 3,000 RPM. It sounds a lot like a lifter. The rebuilt engine (Mondello short block) has only around 10K miles on it. The previous owner had the engine rebuilt and I have no paperwork. I just pulled off the intake yesterday. Is it common to have a "dead" hydraulic lifter that creates a fairly loud knocking at higher rpms? Just wondering about the reputation of these Ruben lifters. Thanks.

I am rebuilding a 425 right now that is almost the same identical story except that the engine was not done by Mondello. My customer only recently purchased the car. He brought it by the shop for me to listen to and it sounded an awful lot like a valve train noise but it turned out it was getting ready to spin a rod bearing.
If you do a search on "Ruben Lifters" you might see some more information. I have never heard of them myself.
I would suggest that before you run yours any longer you take the oil filter off and drain it through some clean white paper towels and then cut it open and look at the filter element. Any type of metal in it means that it is time to take it apart.

I believe he was willing to check with his contacts in an effort to help find some Olds-specific rollers but didn’t have them on the shelf. I’m very interested if you wanna part with a set…seller’s-market price. Thanks

I’ll let you know. Thanks.
