Early A-Bodie Hood Clearance?

Hi all,

I have read a few post here and wasn't real clear on what drop base one needs to run a stock air cleaner top on a 65 and a BBO with an Edelbrock Performer intake.

I have seen a few suggestions of a GM 2" drop and others saying 3", although with a 3" filter I don't see how that would work.

I gues the short question is what base has someone used on a 65 442 with a Performer intake and stock air cleaner lid and filter?

Regards,

I have a friend with a 66 Cutlass, he has run both the Performer and Torker manifold with a typical 14 chrome air cleaner. No issues
