does anyone have this port on side of their carb?
does anyone have this port on side of their carb?
I bought a carburetor off of ebay. it was supposed to be a 66 Olds carb. The rebuilder swears it is correct on the number, but stated up front that the air horns were different. A very knowledgeable person told me that they can't recall a 66 or 67 Olds Quadrajet having that side vacuum port at the choke. I'm raising it as an issue with the seller at this point, but I also don't want to create an issue for him, if he is correct. The casting number in the little round circle is correct, but there are no numbers stamped into the body.
Oh, and the inlet fitting has a threadcutter fitting in it, but for 5/16" line.
Do any of you have that side port on a 66 Oldsmobile Quadrajet? The number in the circle is: 7026254 (which was for a 66 330).
Thanks for any help, either on the port or the choke linkage or anything else you see.

I would say that the side vacuum port would not be for an Oldsmobile....unless possibly one with California emissions. The little round numbers tag can be swapped and perhaps it was. If the inlet fitting is a "thread cutter" design it means that the carb threads were stripped and it was made good with that type fitting. I would send the carb back and say it is not what is required for your car. The 5/16 tube is wrong as well. You should have no trouble finding the correct 67 carb.
yeah, in hindsight, I was stupid for even trying, but I'm just the eternal optimist!!!!
I ran a 'wanted' for a while, and have a core available from a good Forum member, but with no choke linkage. I was hoping for something a bit better. I figured I could send to SMI to have them rebuild it, but I'm not sure they'd have the choke linkage, etc.
In checking the 'tech' info for carbs, it didn't look like there was a ton of difference in the 400 carb versus a few of the others for 66 or 67.
I put the other carburetor (a late 70s quadrajet the best I can tell) back on it, got it cranked again, so guess I'll just use it for a while longer.
Maybe I'll run another ad. Thanks for your help.
