i got a 76 455 without a disturbour will a dist. from a 1982 4.3 V8 work?

 

I assume you're talking about a 260 Olds V8. That distributor will physically fit, but it will only work with the CCC system (unless it's off a Canadian car). If the distributor has a vacuum advance canister, it will work (though you will want to change the mechanical and vacuum advance to match your engine's requirements). If it does not have a vacuum advance canister, it will only work when hooked up to the computer.

 

You can get a stock replacement distributor reasonably at your local auto parts store.
