Diff. between Sealed Power & Melling High-Volume Oil Pumps
Guys whats the difference between the Sealed Power & Melling High-Volume Oil Pumps below:
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...203v/overview/
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...2fhv/overview/
see that the Sealed power pick up
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...203v/overview/
have a larger Tube Diameter (in): 0.750 in.
that the melling pick up
https://www.summitracing.com/int/par...fhvs/overview/
Tube Diameter (in): 0.625 in.
so which one to chose?
We plan to shim it a little bit.

I may be mistaken, but I believe the only difference is the price.
If you were in the US, I would suggest ordering both and then returning one, and I would bet you get two of the exact same pump and pickup.
As for the pickup tubing diameter, those photos are exactly the same, and I think the diameter is the same on both, no matter what it says.
There may be someone here who has ordered both and can tell you with certainty.
Also, note that the high volume pump will only pump more volume through the engine if the engine has room for that much oil (looser clearances, especially when very hot), but it will place a higher load on the engine all the time, as the excess oil is wasted back into the pan, thus stealing an extra horsepower or two, compared to a "regular" pump.
This is not to say that I think you should not use a high volume pump (I use one myself, but it is on an older engine), only that you should understand the good and bad points of it before choosing it.
