Correct water pump?
Guys, hate to start the 8,000,000th my 455 is running hot thread so I'll start it with does anyone have a side view picture of their 71 or 72 455 with OEM shroud and correct water pump?
Read somewhere that the fan should not be completely inside the shroud. Mine is only sticking out past the rear edge of the shroud by about an eighth of an inch.
Car is running at about 200-205 deg. after about 10 minutes. Have replaced everything and recored my 4 core radiator.
Thought maybe I should make sure I don't need the shorter snout water pump?
Any measurements or pictures?
Thanks,
Joe

Well, on the 4 ft fans at work, used to ventilate chicken houses, we run the prop just BACK inside the orifice. About an inch back in on a 50-55" fan, so your 1/8" protrusion sounds totally acceptable.
We spend a lot of time and money to test various conditions to maximize the airflow and/or CFM/watt efficiency of our fans.
We just introduced a new highly efficient motor which should change the game.
