Correct water pump casting number???

Please help! I am looking for the correct water pump casting number for a '70 442.

The car has A/C, automatic transmission, and its original 4 row radiator.

Is casting number 400296 correct for my Olds???

400296 should be the right one, though I can't confirm it. 404847 is basically the same pump=5.6"

I don't know if its "correct" as in..numbers matching. I don't have a factory manual for 1970.

According to my records, 404847 is the factory correct water pump for a '70 4-4-2 with A/C.

From reading the link,
Nik has 2 of them that need a rebuild, and he's asking 50 bucks.

If you don't have a local place to rebuild the water pump, may I suggest Automotive Friction Co., 20521 SE Hwy 212, Damascus, OR 97089, phone 503-353-7595. Turn-around time with them is great, and I've never had any failure in the 5-6 water pumps I've sent them over the last 7 years. Cost is about $65-$70 a unit, plus shipping. They are only a couple of hours away from me, but I've sent them a pump via UPS on a Monday and received it back, ready to paint and install, on Thursday of the same week. Just a thought if you don't have anyone in mind.

Thank you Randy!!!

I will either use him or http://arthurgouldrebuilders.com/

but for now I am still on the hunt for a rebuildable water pump with the correct casting number 404847.

I have e-mailed two people so far, and received no replies yet. I am thinking this may take some time to find this one.

I agree with it taking time. I looked for a couple of years before I found an original for my '68, and then, all of a sudden, there was another one, so I snagged it, too. It may seem like feast and famine. Except that the famine comes first!

I have started a thread in "parts wanted" section, so I can try to locate one of these "404847" water pump castings.

J-(Chicago), do you know Nik???

He e-mailed me Saturday and stated that he had one that he would sell to me. I e-mailed him back and stated that I will gladly buy it from him. He since then has not got back with me.

I am registered on ROP (about 6 months ago), but the mod has still not activated my account. So.... I have no way to talk with Nik other than e-mailing him. I have seen that Nik has posted on ROP a few times since I e-mailed him Saturday.
