Cheap oil pan suggestion

Hello,
for my winter build i am searching for a bigger oil pan.

It should fit my 1970 442 A body. I found the milodon and moroso oil pans but i also found cheap 8qt oil pans at ctrperformance and assaultracing.

They are very cheap, do you think i should give them a try? It is for a street/strip car.

Ive used the anodized one before..it fit good , they are the big block style pan with the factory style baffle.

identical to the milodon/moroso street strip style basic big sump pan.

I have one here going on a customer’s engine..I can post pics of the inside sump if you want

I get that you’re looking for a cheap pan, but you should also consider the Canton 15-502. 6qt with trap doors and extremely well made.

thank you for the answer. The canton isnt available and only has 5qt. My toro pan also has 5qt.

Maybe i buy the 8 qt and weld in a extra oil trap?

That pan looks pretty good for the price. There is also the Thornton pan. Mark got me a Canton pan and pick up not very long ago. There is a swinging side baffle as well. It is a 6 quart pan, really nice.

Exclamation

Be careful on the depth. The sump can hang below the crossmember.

The Milodon 7 quart pan sits level with the crossmember.

I have to be honest. I wouldn't use the words "cheap" and "oiling system" in the same sentence.

you are right. I ordered the canton pan, to get sure that are no oiling issues.

Good move in my opinion. Couple that with restricted pushrods and you’re all set.

This is the Canton on a 350 block in a 67 Cutlass with new motor mounts. It is a bit lower than the front crossmember but I figure if I manage to drag it on something, I shouldn't have been there. I do my offroading in my 4X4. Those headers are for a BB Olds so that is why they hang down so far.

Do you suggest not going with CFR performance then per the link above/picture below? I agree not to be cheap when it comes to oiling but wasn't sure if CFR is considered good or bad (but $102 + shipping is cheap compared to other pans). Thanks!

Looks like the CFR one hangs 7/8" lower than the Milodon or Canton ones. 8 1/4 deep vs 9 1/8"...

Almost worth it to buy it and cut an inch out of it and use the Canton or other pickup. There's a $200 difference. While you're at it, weld in your own baffle.
