Carb Recommendation 70 Cutlass Convertible

Looking for carbuerator recommendations for my 70 Cultass Convertible. How big? Brand? I have a 455 Toro Quadrajet in hand. Probably a 70-72. Should I have it rebuilt and use it or go Holley? Here are the specs:

455---HP/Tq approx 400-450
TH 400 with shift kit
4 core radiator and will put in trans cooler if necessary
3:31 posi gears Chevy 12 bolt
5500 RPM max
(still considering torque converter)

Street car. Stop light to stop light kind of car. Top down highway cruiser as well. Will never see the track.

Thanks.

if you have it why not use the one you have, Rochester's sometimes have a bad rap but when they work they work well. What is the number on the side of the carb?

should start out 7041XXX its on the carb itself, drivers side near the back. Of course just cause it came off a toro doesn't mean it was correct for that car either.

5 was difficult to make out, but the engine was a Toro 455, reasonable to think its OLDS.

Is there any way to confirm its application other than Olds to Federal emission standards?

there's one on ebay for sale right now, same number same application. remember qjets were emission carbs so the idle/transfer fuel and idle air bypass circuits may have to be increased for good idle/off idle response. 10% ethynol fuel requires a 5% fuel increase across the entire curve because it takes roughly twice as much ethynol to make the same power as gasoline. I suggest a rebuild kit from cliff ruggles, his stuff is the best, good luck
