I've got a 73 Cutlass Supreme with a 3.42:1 posi rear end.
The engine is a rebuilt 1967 425 from a Delta 88, it has 10.25:1 compression, an Edelbrock Torker intake, an Edelbrock Performer carb, Edelbrock aluminum heads, headers, and a Mondello JM 22-25-10 camshaft.
The engine setup works, but I think I went too aggressive on the cam and intake for casual street use and cruising.
I'm thinking of changing to a Performer intake and a milder cam and would welcome any recommendations.
Why do you think you need a smaller cam?
That cam really isn’t that big for a 10.25:1 425.
What converter do you have in the car now?
I would recommend the regular Performer intake though. That’s a good all around piece.
That is a great cam, ran 1 for 17 years and it worked great with power brakes and AC. I used it with both a 3.08 posi and 3.91 posi differential. The only difference is I was running it in a 455 Oldsmobile. I really like the idle and overall driving manners.
As said, add the Performer and more stall, if necessary, easy. The factory stall and single plane intake won't be an ideal combo, 1600ish stall, if still in the trans.
