Cam thrust button clearance

I知 using Dick miller brass thrust button set-up to limit forward cam walk. Hyd roller cam application.

I知 not using the .040 brass washer between cam and block ( there was no damage in the block).

Since I知 not using the brass washer, i have quite a bit of clearance between the brass button and timing cover (currently .050 without the a gasket on the timing cover).

There痴 currently no washer between the fuel pump concentric and the dick miller bolt. Maybe i simply remover the dick miller bolt, place a washer on it, and reinstall. That will move the bolt and brass button forward a bit.

I致e read that .004 is a reasonable amount of clearance between brass and timing cover.

I see no obvious reason not to install the cam bolt with a washer and the fuel pump concentric. But wanted to bounce it off ya値l.

Thanks,
Adrian

Yup, use washers to push the bolt forward.
I aim for something just under 10 thou. Basically want it to have movement (a good thunk back and forth), but not enough to say "wow, that cam is moving!"
Also remember the gasket when checking.
