Cam - Do it now or Wait
I've got a 1968 455 out of a Delta 88. It has 74,000 miles on it. At this point I have it cleaned it up and replaced the timing set and oil pump. I will do the same with the water pump. What is the opinion about changing out the cam at this point? Would I be gaining that much by a newer cam profile?
In case it matters, it's going in a 68 Cutlass/Convert with a turbo 400, W/Z manifolds and a 3.08 posi rear-end.

The minimum you would need to do is change the valve springs and seals.
I assume the new cam has lifters.
The rockers may need to be relaced if they are worn.
Depends on the cam profile.
For a little more power, an Engle 18-20 would be a good upgrade.
