C Heads

Question...

I picked up a set of "C" heads this weekend with the following numbers... 894548. Anybody know what year these are from and verify they will fit a 455? I have a 455 without heads and bought them to complete the engine, which I will probably sell.

Also, what are the "good" heads for a 455? My other 3 455's all have J heads.

Thanks!!

The C heads are good heads used from 1967-69. The J heads don't flow as well, so the C's in stock form would be an upgrade. The 1967's would have an application stamp in the front of one head. It would be a mix of numbers with a letter or two included. The 1968-69's will not but they'll have a casting date for the day of the year but nothing to say which year. John

Whoops! I missed the other part of your question. Yes, the C heads were used on 400, 425 and 455 engines so they will fit your 455.
