Block Clearance for H-Beams

My first 455 build with H-Beam rods. Having to clearance the bottom of the cylinders. Is this pretty normal practice when using H-Beams for the 455's?

Just my experience. Mine is stroked to 4.5 and I do have reliefs cut in the bottom of the bore to clear my H-Beams. Wasn't aware it was needed on a standard stroke but that looks to be the case. GL

Yes common practice. Relieving is done opposite the cast in notch on the outside.

Soon I'll be doing this same thing.
Can anyone share details or tips about the process?
What would be considered the minimum amount of clearance needed between block and rods?
thank you
