Finally got the alternator bracket on my big block with air and now I'm having trouble with the power steering pump and or bracket. I'm assuming the pump uses the two top holes in the alternator bracket into the head but there is no clearance for belts or adjustment. Anybody have a pic of the left front so I can physically see if I'm going in the right direction. I did take pictures with my phone but don't know how to put them online from my phone. Going to spin out and go ballistic here pretty quick. Thanks again.

 

First, lets make sure which power steering pump you have. Here's the one that would have been correct for a 1968. Newer ones will work too, but for starters does yours look like this?

Not close, tear drop shape with the pump between two steel brackets.

OK, I suspect your reservoir is the same one as the last four pictures I posted. Kinda squarish sides, I can see the teardrop shape. But the brackets don't look like anything I'm familiar with. Are you sure this is from an Oldsmobile. Anybody else recognize these brackets? Would you send me a picture of the backside that I can add to the thread? John

Wow. What is that bracket from?!? I checked all the Divisions, and nothing I could find looks like it.

Pontiac Olds engine maybe?

 

I got it with, not bolted to a mid 70's 350 Old's. The bolt spacing is roughly 2", fits the pattern on the front of the head. With some spacers cut I could make it work but won't allow a belt to go on the alternator. I'm thinking what I need is that first pic you showed me. I have a stud on the bottom, a stud in the water pump and a threaded boss on the left side of the block down by the oil pan rail.

What you need is definitely the set of brackets in the picture below.

looks like a Chrysler product power steering pump.

 

KA steering pump pulley my notes say is
pre-metric, press-on

So, press-on started about 1973 and metric started about 1977.
Still looks like Pontiac Olds-engine PS bracketry to me

 

Bottom line, I agree with Eric that you need to get a different set of brackets.

Looks like it's a '77-'79 TransAm 403 part.

Octania wins, though he suggested the converse.

Unless you have a full set of TransAm brackets and pulleys, this ain't gonna work.
