Before or after?

I usually change the oil in my '72 Supreme every 6 months, so it's due. It's been about 2,000 miles since I last did it in March. I'm going to the Endless Summer Cruise in Ocean City MD in a couple weeks, and it's about a 300 mile round trip. So should I wait till after I get back before I do the oil change, or before I go?

It does not matter, choice is yours. I probably would do it after at around spring time.

Agreed. You already have 2000 miles on it. Fresh oil for a road trip is always a good idea.

Dave,
Oil is cheap insurance for engine health. Changing it now certainly can't hurt and since you're taking it on a road trip the new oil really won't get hurt by sustained highway speed. In fact it will like that better. Change it now and it will only have 300 miles on it when you store it for winter. In the spring it's turnkey and ready for the new cruising season.
Question: are you using dino oil or synthetic? If dino (even with high mileage brands) I would still change it now. If synthetic maybe wait.

Either way will be O.K. I'd probably wait.

I always lean towards the flush it side. Fresh oil never hurts. Run it and check it when you get home. Makes for a happy engine.

If you want to change it first it is okay but the recommended oil change interval back in the day was 3,000 miles. You would be well under that after your trip so I would wait. My sister and her husband have a condo in Ocean City.

In my Expedition I change it at about 5,000 and use Mobile 1 and a Wix filter. Good oil and filters are cheap insurance.

Yup. The initial post said it was about time to change it anyway. Always a good idea to have fresh oil on a road trip. Especially if you are thinking it is about due anyway. Highway miles plus fresh oil is always good.
