71 442 Intake and air cleaner questions

I have a 1971 442 Not W30 car and I need to know if the intake should be aluminum or cast, and I need to know what color the air cleaner should be?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks
David

A 71 442 should have a dual snout black air cleaner. Intake should be cast iron atop a 455 engine metallic blue in color.

I have never seen one like that before, do you know where I can find one?
My factory manual does not show that style.

Where does the driver side snorkel connect to?

Thanks!!!

That one is for sale on ebay right now. Neither snout is connected to anything.

There are a few of those air cleaners floating around.Someone asked me last week if I knew anyone interested in one.Now I need to figure out who that was.The casting number for the cast iron intake for 71 is 404521.They used that intake in 70 as well, but had a different iron intake for the non-W30 4-spd cars,& then another casting number for 72.The 404521 is one of the easier ones to get.

Hey Brian,
Thanks Let me know if you find that air cleaner or intake.
I actually bought the carburator for my car from you recently.

Nice to hear from you.

Actually my air cleaner 'connects' to a pre-heater stove pipe on the passenger side that comes off the right exhaust manifold. Not sure if that's what you meant.

I was not specific but meant that the ends of the snouts were open and not connected to an air hose or anything.

i understood, I will just have to use something else for now. Can not afford 300-400 for correct one. Anybody have a vacuum routing diagram for this air cleaner. 1971 factory manual does not have diagram for this that I can find.
