68 400 engine detailing questions

1. Was the thermostat housing painted bronze originally along with the engine, or left natural? Mine has rubber a bypass hose.
2. What type of hose clamp is used on the fuel pump rubber return and vent hoses, and where can I get them?
3. Same as #2 except for the power steering return hose?

Thanks.

The T-stat housing was on the engine when it was painted, so it's engine color. I assume you have the die cast housing with the J-hose, which would be correct for 1968.

The fuel pump hoses are inlet from the tank and fuel return back to the tank. Both used spring ring clamps.

The PS return line used crimp-style clamps that require a special tool to crimp them.

Thanks Joe. The PS clamps look like Oetiker clamps (also what's stamped on the band), maybe I can find a clamping tool to rent or borrow.

A CV boot clamp tool works well, if you can find someone who has one.
