67 442 PVC valve popped out during driving
I took the 442 for a 30 mile drive yesterday - mostly highway. This was the first time out of the driveway in around 2-1/2 years. I know way to long. Fortunately it drove well. When I opened the hood the PVC valve was popped off. The rubber grommet appears fine. Should I be concerned? I shook the PVC valve and hear it moving back and forth, but I ordered a new one since it was only $5. Was just wondering your experience - can't say I have seen that before. I normally just idle the car in the driveway and never popped out in that scenario. I'll have to try it out with the new PCV valve. I don't know if this matters, but it appears I also overfilled the radiator at the beginning of the drive and several inches of coolant overflew out.
Idling isn't good for the engine, it creates moisture through condensation that doesn't get burned away which causes corrosion. If at all possible, drive the car, get it hot, push it a little and keep it hot for 15-20 minutes.
The PCV valve popping out may not be a major problem. Drive it a few more times for a distance and keep an eye on it.
