66-67 400 Block ID Help Needed
Hi Guys,
If I find a 66-67 400 "E" block (casting #390925) without heads....how do I know if it was made in 66 or 67? I'm asking for a friend, so please excuse my ignorance here.
thanks,
bob

As far as I know, there is no way to distinguish between a '66 and '67 "E" block, especially if the heads and other year-specific parts are removed. The julian date markings would narrow down to time of year, but the year itself is not specified anywhere.
I'm sure if I am wrong about this, others will let you know! Good news assuming I am right is that either year block can be used to make a '66 or '67 442 "correct".

As an addendum, assuming I am right above, the same is likely also true of a Toronado "D" block, since the lifter bank angles on both "E" and Toro "D" blocks was 39 degrees for both years.
And if I am wrong above, then I guess my embarrassment will be doubled now.
