'58 371 oil pump priming tool
Hi everyone
I'm planing to put my original 58 371 rebuild engine back in the car this year.
Does anybody have a recommendation for an oil pump priming tool except from an original distributor?
I searched many stores which offer tools for almost every common motor but not that first generation Olds.
See pictures for distributor end.

If you can find a used distributor you can gut it and make out of it a tool to spin your oil pump using a 1/2 inch drill motor. That,s what many of us do to bring the engine up to pressure before firing it up the first time.... Tedd

My oilpump has a circular flange pin with a 3/4 or halfmoon notch.
I found a simple solution.
I got a 10mm copper pipe from the hardware store. This fits perfectly in the front end of the power drill.
Give it a hit with the hammer on one side and you got at least something that will lock on the flange pin and turn the pump.
I have not used it yet, but i´m confident it will work.
Thanks
