455 swap motor mounts
455 swap motor mounts
I'm installing a 455 into my 67 Oldsmobile Cutlass I'm using the original transmission trying to find out some information on what type of motor mounts that should be used Any info would be greatly appreciated
Yeah I've got the 350s that was in the car and also I have a 400 that I could put in there as well but I think I'm just going to stay with the 350 I'm just going to be using it as a street driver maybe run Street class every now and then at the track I'm wanting to put a posi in the 12 bolt too
I am using the small block style mounts in my 64 with the 455. Becareful with autoparts store mounts, they are not always the same. I had a set that and one didnt have as much rubber in the mount, caused all kinds of headaches. I also welded the holes closed on the side that mounts in the block and re drilled them to drop the engine down a little for hood clearence. The 350 trans is probably the better choice, or go stick!
And again, so there's no confusion, there are no "small block" or "big block" mounts.
You are using the 2261s which are the factory-style mounts for ALL BBO and SBO in A-body cars for 1964-68. Many parts catalogs and vendors list incorrect numbers for Olds mounts, so just order by part number. As always, the motor mounts must match the frame mounts, NOT the block. All Olds blocks (big and small) have the same motor mount attach holes in the same place.
