455 rebuild recommendations?
Hi all,
Just got permission from the better half to rebuild the motor ;-) She's a good girl.
Looking for 550 ish torque after 3000rpm. Haven't pulled it apart yet. I don't want to change the hood so what can I do under the hood to give me what I want. The motor is original and very tired. One cylinder is showing signs of a broken ring with a good amount of oil making it into the breather and blue smoke from the passenger side.
Thinking to bore 30 to 50 thou over. From there I would build to a recipe. There are racing engine builders here in Perth but not many Oldsmobiles or Buicks around. Lots of Mopar and Chevs. According to what I have read around about, the Olds seems to have its own characteristics when it comes to building it up a bit. Any points I need to look out for?
Anybody willing to help or point me in the right direction would be great.
Richard
