455 heads...
455 heads...
what are the cc's of the chambers in the various olds big block heads? the C, D, E, G, Ga, J etc. and how is compression ratio calculated?
i have chosen the kb277 pistons .060 over which have a 15cc dish and stock rods for my 455 build and after i decide on what heads to go with ill have my comp ratio and can make a decision on cam for my motor right?... i can see it coming together
got a PILE of parts in the corner that keeps growing
thanks for all your help guys

If you grind the smog hump and have the throats opended up, which any good shop can do easily when they do a competition valve job with a Serdi machine, you'll have a decent set of J heads. You can even install larger valves to help and the because of the lower spring seats, they're easier to find springs for.
J's can be made much better, without too much trouble.

By the way, the CCs are 80, 80, or 80. The 68-69 D heads are supposed to be 72 CC, but all of the castings can vary by a CC or so. Most BBO heads as-cast measure around 84 CC. As always, check the ones you plan to use to be sure.
