455 head gaskets

Does anyone have an idea of what Head Gaskets perform well on a 1969 455 "F" Block with "C" Heads? I heard the Felpro Gaskets are .043 and the stock ones were only .017.... Therefore dropping the compression .5 ?

Just got the engine from a 69 toro with 80k on it,

Im pretty new to this and any help will be appreciated.

Give that a try, should get your compression closer to stock

You will not feel any difference in power by changing a head gasket,if that is what you are worried about.Since the head is off to change gaskets, you could have them milled to make up the difference.

I have always used fel-pro that was appropriate for what i was doing and never a problem, just recently used rocketracing-perf .28 gasket and so far so good

That and the info is incorrect. The Cortecos are .028 compressed, and are pretty much unavailable.

Agreed, .028" and I am glad I hoarded some of the 55661's several years ago. Since they come in plastic bags and boxes, they should not dry out. I have seen Fel Pro's apparently dry out, and coolant leach through the fiber core if they are old.
