Does anyone know if there is a repair sleeve available for the 455 Olds harmonic balancer. The number I found was for Pioneer HB-4124. It seems this is not available. I was wondering if there is an alternate. Thanks
I've used the FelPro sleeve numerous times, though usually I get it as part of the timing cover gasket set. The sleeve by itself is available as FelPro 16294 or SKF 99199 or Victor Reinz 711450500. The FelPro sleeve is under $4 at RockAuto.
Call BDI, Bering Distributors Inc. Ask for a speedy sleeve. Have calipers or a Mic to measure the OD. By two as you might ruin one on the first attempt.

My method if you can catch a finger nail in the groove:
-Clean the surface
-Rough it up with 150-200 emery strip roll paper. Get down into the groove.
-Smooth some JB Weld over the groove with a straight razor just filling the low spot. Let the JB slightly set up so it doesn't run. Put it on very very thin. Keep an eye on it until it sets.
-Let it set up over night or longer. Use a finer grit emery paper to smooth the JB down to just even with the surrounding original metal surface.
-Install speedy with 271 red or 290 green loctite.
-Emery the new surface with 400-600 grit to deburr the outer edge of the sleeve and to check to make sure you didn't transfer the balancers imperfections into the sleeve. That's the reason for the JB. If you do see surface transfer start over. It cuts right off with care.
If the seal has the retaining/tentioning spring in it pack that spring with Vaseline to keep it put during installation.
