I am picking this engine up Sunday. Seller had placed this ad -



Olds 455 bored .030 over with factory spec 10.25 compression trw pistons,engine has been balanced,crank was polished,edelbrock performer intake,heads have 2.07 intake valves and 1.72 exhaust valves.Has G heads.Has chrome moly pushrods.

I plan on swapping out my 350 in my Supreme (170,000 miles) The 455 has a mild cam but aren't certain of the specs yet. I also plan on using a stock intake. What kind of power should I expect? What kind of modifications will I have to do? Any info would be great. Thanks.

 

Hard to say without knowing more. But you can figure in excess of 400hp based on what you have stated. I assume that you have the turbo 350 transmission and if it is stock it will not stand up to the torque the 455 will produce if you hammer it some. Either have the 350 built up or go to a turbo 400. Not knowing what year your supreme is I am not sure if your rear end will hold up or not. Others will weigh in and give you more opinions and advice. Good luck

 

Thanks Pat. I have a 70 Supreme. It only has the 10 bolt rear and am rebuilding the 350 turbo. I have some 400's but really didn't want to do any mods. I fugure I won't be really hammering it too much so hopefullt it will be ok. So really about 400....cool. If the aluminum intake will not allow everything to bolt to it I will use a stock one. So i take it that I can just hook all my accesorys to it with no mods? I heard the 455 will acomodate the 350 exhaust manifolds? I will use 455 manifolds unless it won't hook directly to my exhaust.

 

You can use the 350 manifolds but they will be restrictive as they are smaller then the 455 manifolds not a good idea so use the 455 manifolds and modify you exhaust. The aluminum intake manifold has all of the same bolt patterns as the stock one so all of the brackets and accessories will bolt up just fine

Oh yeah.....If I use the Performer intake will I be able to retain the stock air cleaner? (clearance)

 

yea a stock 455 makes like 390 horse. if you look at my build in major builds it only costed around 2500 to do and she has an *** load of torque
