455 "c" head,now a "boat anchor"?
Brought a pair of "c" heads 2 hours away from home for $10,so didn't lose a lot. But the heads were stored in boxes with spray foam and one head had a lot of moisture causing pitting at base. Not sure if it can be saved, otherwise it's a cleaned head and was told they were checked out sometime before I received them? Any opinion or help would be very appreciated 👍

They look like they have been sitting on the ground in a junk yard for 20 years Might as well take them to the scrap metal place. I bet it would take .070 or more to clean the pitting up where the head gasket seals around the cylinder.

As with most things, the answer is "it depends." I ran K heads with .045 and .090 taken off. Like mentioned above, you'll have to take the same amount off the intake side of the head so that the manifold will still fit. And you'd have to choose pistons and head gaskets etc. based on how much compression you want to run and balance that with the cost to machine them.

Keep in mind that the intake fitment depends not only on the amount cut from the head but also the compressed thickness of the head gasket. The OEM steel shim gaskets were 0.017" or so. FelPro blue gaskets run about 0.047" compressed. Cometic C5808-060 head gaskets are 0.060" compressed. Cometic C5808-080 are 0.080" compressed.
