394 exhaust manifold for '61
I am interested in confirming the following exhaust manifold part#'s for my car prior to purchasing the correct dual exhaust system that the car originally had. Today it has the xover pipe which I'll remove and add a block-off on the RH side of the manifold. The numbers seem to be correct from my research thus far and they are:
GM 579278 RH
GM 579279 LH D2
btw any part number for the manifold heat control valve that can be crossed to a new one?
The shop manual states that gaskets are not used between the C-head and exhaust manifold - is that still a valid way to install it ???

Use a gasket unless you have the mating surface on the manifold and head machined. Use anti-sieze on the bolts and torque them to spec. Make sure you retorque them after driving the car a couple of times.
