1969 Delta 88 455 needs new carb, can’t find a Quadrajet

Does anyone know where to get a Quadrajet rebuild? I can’t find one available any time soon. Or can you recommend a good after market that isn’t a pain to install? The housing on mine is stripped and possibly the fuel inlet.

Ray Kleem on Facebook builds them, he has lots of cores.

QuadraJet power also builds them. I’m sure there are many more

National Carburetor in Jacksonville FL is worth a call or email. They did nice work on a different brand for us about a year ago and turned it around in a little over a week with shipping.

I get mine from SMI (Sean Murphy Induction) in SoCal. Have for 10 years or more. Stock-ish with a slight bent toward performance

The stripped fuel inlet is common and easily fixed with a heli-coil. Your 1969 uses a 7029251 carb, which is one of the most common Oldsmobile Qjets out there. I would not recommend a commercial rebuilt carb, since most are frankencarbs.

John Herald (843-408-7416) most likely has that one in stock. Located in NC. He can rebuild yours and fix that fuel inlet.

You can fix the threads with a self tapping fuel inlet too. Like Joe mentioned though, the proper way to fix the carburetor is to heli-coil the fuel bowl.

I think I read on the site someone selling two Qjet cores. Might be worth a search.

@rickw30

... later 800 CFM carbs though. Not correct for OP's application.

I've gotten two from there and both have worked well. One for a 73 455 and one for a 71 Chevy 350 c20 truck. Both were numbers correct for the application. Not show quality with the epoxy plug on the front, but very good performance wise with supposed correct factory jetting and metering rods. I would call with the original part number though, since the website doesn't list all available parts.
