1966 425

Just bought BBO, what is supposed to be from a 1966 toro. Came with B heads, and intake (which I will not be using). Any help to confirm that it is what I was told would be great.

The toro 425 had larger diameter lifters, larger oil pan with crank scrapers and the oil filter housing was angled rather than vertical in respect to filter. The heads had the larger intake valves.

and the 5th pic clearly shows the "drill spot" on the rib of the timing housing shelf. congrats! definitely looks like a toro motor, arguably the best of the Olds motors.

Thanks for the help, looking to build to about 400hp. would like to use the heads, will they work? Are they worth rebuilding? Any suggestions on a cam?

400 hp isn't hard. those heads will work fine. i'm not an engine build expert, so i'll defer to others on the cam. i'm pretty sure the cam dictates the springs to use though. you'll want to know a few things before choosing a cam, too. like combustion chamber cc's, piston to deck clearance, piston cc's. you may wish to do a little mild porting around the valve seat & guide area, you also might want to have hardened seats installed(do it right, do it once).
