1965 425 pcv question

I'm looking through my 1965 CSM and am not finding much detail in the PCV system. The current configuration on my motor has an old PCV (I believe, see pic.) on the passenger side tied to the air cleaner, nothing on the driver side valve cover and a vented oil fill cap. A lot of the engine photos online show the top hat style oil cap. I'm guessing that was stock. My question is if I replace the PCV but change to an aftermarket air cleaner (doing a 2bbl to 4bbl conversion) do I keep the vented oil cap or have to install a breather on the driver side cover? The PCV would just hook up to the carb, right? Am I overthinking all of this? Advice is, as always, appreciated.

Forgot to add that there was nothing connected to the little nipple coming off of that either. Is that a vacuum connection?
