owner wants 7500.00 wouldn't take a dime less, sad way to see a car go sorry I had to share

 

Man, I just do not understand what the owners of these cars think....are they that out to lunch?...
Same here...an all power highly optioned 442 70 convert sitting in the grass and the owner would not sell because he was going to fix it up someday

 

he also has a 1970 SX , with a wrecked front, frame was not damaged from accident, NO TITLE and wants 3000.00, red with white interior I could hear the car crying to get her out of the field sooo sad

We too have cars sitting in someones driveway that would fall apart if you tried to move them. But the owners want more than a perfect low miles original would fetch.


Get over it, we won't change their minds.

That's a dang shame that's history right there ticks me off someone could be getting enjoyment out of it and he's trying to sell it to get rich

 

Sooner or later someone will get it. I pursued a 66 Starfire for over 29 years and bought it from the owner's estate sale last October. Went from a roadworthy car to being a marginal parts car thanks to outside storage.

When we bought my dad's 70 442, it looked better than that... and he barely wanted to pay the $350 for it. Many... Many years ago though.

You should print and mail him a copy of this thread. He needs to wake up. He'll never restore it and it will rot into the ground. The days of that car being worth $7500 are long gone, probably was never worth $7500 when he parked it there, let alone after it deteriorated in that field. It looks like a $1000-$1500 parts car or desperate project to me. There's a '69 440+6 ("Six Pack") 4 speed A12 Road Runner about a mile from my house. Its been sitting in the weeds for at least 25 years. He's going to restore it someday. People like that don't know the first thing about what it takes to wash a car, let alone restore it; nor do they have the ambition to sign the back of the title, let alone drag the car out of the field.

 

well there's at least $1000 in parts, radiator, side mirrors, fan shroud, heat tube, core support top, console, hood tongue, engine and maybe passenger side grill. Man would hate to see this rot anymore, it is probalby at least still salvageable but soon only for those parts

 

It's about 7000.00 too much considering all the work someone would have to do even to just remove and sell parts. As long as it continues to sit there the worse the corrosion will get. I'd bet the frame is rusted through from sitting in that field so long.

 

Hey, you never know. Almost 2 years ago I saw this guy selling his olds as a project car in parts. His original asking price was $7500. Over those 2 years i sent him a message a few times asking him if he would sell me just the bumpers. He wouldn't, and nobody was buying. Out of nowhere he emailed me and said he was going to scrap it, and i could come and take what I want at scrap value. It was awesome!

You know what happened? His wife wanted space in the garage and got him to clean it out. I guess people may be stubborn, but there is a good chance there's someone who can persuade them to change their mind.

 

Exactly. Never underestimate the power of WIFE. It could work against you to go behind a guy's back, but it can prove beneficial to make sure his wife knows you've offered him cash for that ugly piece of **** she hates.

if he sell his car then his dream is gone. Then what's he got? Nothing.

I've found out that when someone puts an outrageous price on something, they really don't want to sell it. I think if you approached him with the cash in hand, he'd find another reason not to sell it to you. Takes all kinds.

 

True, but the end result is that the car rots and is lost for others to see in the future.......
