68 442 dash and body stripe....

Originally, did the pin stripe on the 68 442 coupe match the double pin stripe on the dash, or was it a single stripe?

Double. I've got a thread somewhere with the dimensions and a source too. Give me a minute

edit:

I totally mis-read your post. The longitudinal stripe was a double about the same size as the dash but it was painted

If I understand correctly, the double pin stripe on the dash is the same as what was painted on the car?

They were both double but after looking at that pic above I think they may be the same thickness on the body

And the dash stripe was tape, not paint.

The Y71 pin stripe was actually a single stripe, not double. The picture shown is not an original stripe.

Thanks. I didn't know that. I think it's Y70 though. Y71 was an interior trim option

I can scan it later, but suffice to say that it is not much help, nor are any other pics/illustrations there. It shows what appears to be a single stripe that goes up and around the side glass along the roof all the way back to the front of the roof!! *If* true, what about 2-tones, vinyl roofs and converts? And it mentions "on the trunk" too, with nothing shown! Doesn't look like they were very proud of it.
So what *exactly* does this stripe look like? Like '68 442s are rare? Joe P has been diverting our attention with the W36 stripes.

I can just make out stripe in the pic of the original owner with the car.
From what Scott442 posted on the stripe, and the dashboard stripe, wandering if it was the thinner of the two on the dash that would of been the GT stripe on the exterior?

long shot....

you can just see the outline of the single stripe...11/32"wide 3/4" down from the top of trim ...guess I will run with that

A one colour car had the stripe running from the headlight around and up to the windshield...on a two tone or vinyl roof car, the stripe stopped at the back of the quarter window trim, just under the horizontal separation trim...and on a convert it runs from headlight to taillight under the peak moulding. .

Here's a pic of the original dual dash stripe in my '68 4-4-2. The picture was taken in March 1971.
