1972 442 Trunk Trim Molding

I am currently restoring a 1972 V Code 442 4 Speed.

Does anyone reproduce a good rear trunk trim molding set.....or is this an NOS item only?

Thank you,

Dan

Dan - I assume you're referring to the THREE PIECE molding set that runs along the bottom edge of the trunklid.

There seem to be plenty of nice used sets out there and Fusick Automotive sells a repro three piece set for $199 (note: I can't attest to the quality or exactness of the repros as I've never had a repro set in my hands).

What you have to be VERY CAREFUL of on used moldings is some dings will basically be impossible to remove depending on where they're located on the molding. You really can't get behind any ding (to tap out or push out the ding) that is on the outer face of the moldings (the "face" being what you see from the back of the car when the trunklid is shut).

I may have a nice original set that's already restored but I'd have to check my inventory here first to make sure.

Hi Dan I did a quick Google search as well as eBay, and the usual suspects all popped up selling a three piece molding set for your trunk. Fusick, The Parts Place, Tamraz - I also can’t speak to their quality but have purchased parts from all three and tend to lean towards Fusick.

More importantly, please post some photos! We all know how rare a V code 442 is so please share, and best of luck with your restoration.

Patton,

Yes the 3 piece molding rear trunk molding. You are correct.... the one on this '72 442 is too damaged to repair.
I will send you a text....later today.

Vcode442,

Will do.

* Anyone else have any knowledge with Fusick rear truck moldings....how they fit and look?

Dan

I bought the Fusick moulding. I needed just the long piece for the trunk lid and it came as the 3 piece kit. I would say it fit pretty darn good. I usually avoid repop parts but this one fit well. Even the ends that overlap fit pretty good IMO.
