1970 442 jack question

1970 442 jack question

Hello previous owner says its the original jack I never see one like this with the chain hook? can anyone help? is it correct or the car? thanks

The original jack in my 1970 Supreme had a solid hook or cradle, whatever it's called. No idea if there were different versions, though.

That is a universal jack- not original.

I had a 70 Toronado several years ago that had one exactly like that in the trunk. I figured it was some universal type as well, the chain hook probably wasn't original at least.

Thanks guys for your help so you are calling it universal so you think its a gm jack or aftermaket? Do you think its worth restoring?

I'll bet it is aftermarket- fits all. Pretty neat though. It seems I saw one like it years ago. Anyway look on the jack stowage sticker inside your trunk lid. That shows the jack mounting for your car and has a pretty good drawing of the jack and hook,etc. And I think its shown in the shop manual- probably even the owners manual. I would keep that and use it if need be- No I actually wouldn't use it or a original. Jack it up with a floor jack or bottle jack. Those old bumper jacks used to bend bumpers....
