Jack ID

Was wondering if anyone could tell me if this is the right jack for a 72 Cutlass. I still need the hook but wanted to make sure the hook would fit on this jack first. My car came with two jacks. The other is in worse shape and a little bit different.

I find it hard to believe that no one has been able to confirm or deny this issue.

I think thats a later model year one that fits in the slot in the bumper no hook is required on that jack.

That was kind of what I wondered. I'll get pics up on my other jack. Hopefully it's the right one. Right now I have a cylinder jack that's rattling around. I figured the stock jack would be more secure.

Ok pulled out the other jack that came with my car. Of course this one is locked up. Been soaking in PB blast. Does this one look more like a 72 Cutlass jack?

Jack Hook

The second one looks like the correct type. I would get the hook for it, restore the jack and screw it into the trunk as per factory, then leave it there. The hook will dent your bumper and the jack itself may dent your head. They are not stable or safe for that matter. I would keep a more modern screw jack or even a
small hydraulic jack for actual usage. Also, make sure everything is secured in the trunk, nothing worse than a dent from the inside of your rear fender poking out. If you manage to find a source for these old type of jacks, keep us posted.

Me too.
Not one person here with a 1972 Cutlass is willing to go open their trunk and get the jack out and snap a few pics of it?
Come on guys.
Are there any part numbers on it? The correct jack handle/lug wrench should have a small raised letter "O" on it IIRC.

X2 on not using the thing, they destroy bumpers, the front especially. You just tap those bumpers into tall grass at a mile an hour and it will bend it up into the classic "Cutlass grin".
I have a medium size floor jack in a plastic storage case that I carry in my OCC's third seat footwell.

That is not correct for a 72 Olds A body. The lift point on the jack suggests 73 or later.

Yes, I have some old pics of my jack and hook on file. The lift cradle for 72 is a detachable piece with a rubber insert. There is a part number stamped on it too.

Hope these pics help.
