what is stock exhaust size on 67 442?

While I'm not sure I believe the tubing is 'original' to my car, at least I now the mufflers were replaced. The tubing is fairly rusty, and is 'prebent', so I know it wasn't a muffler shop bend job.

I need to replace the mufflers due to a little buckling issue, but I don't want to have to replace the pipes yet. I can get a caliper on the pipe, but I was wondering what the original size of the tubing was supposed to have been.

I saw many recommendations for 17749 from Dynomax, but that appears to be a 2 1/2" i/o.

Anyone know for sure?

Thanks,

Stock is 2-1/4".
Dynomax does make the right size. 2-1/4, 2-1/4, offset/offset, 20" case. Should be number 17561 for the welded Superflows.

Anyone have Welded Super Flows on 400?

I was looking for their 'mellow/deep' from Dynomax, but I don't see anything that fits the 2 1/4".

The Super Flows have their 'sport' sound level, which may still be OK, but I don't want it if it is numbing at highway speed inside the car. I don't mind loud when I mash it, just don't want it so it gives me a headache at 55...

I have enough other things to give me a headache already....

thanks for any help.

the 2 1/4-2 1/4, offset/offset, 19-20" case looks right.

Correct. And there is a $25.00 per muffler rebate right now, and last I checked, a $25.00 "Summit Bucks" offer if you buy from Summit. I just bought 2 from Summit and got *both* discounts!

Like most of what I see at Summit/Jegs these days, it is 2 week or more backorder time.

Let me know what you think of the sound when you get it.

I might as well bite the bullet and put some noise in it. It just looks too tough to sit there and be so quiet.
